In this tutorial we will learn how to position the different enemy units. We won’t learn how to move them until a further lesson. At the end of this step we will obtain a set of enemy units positioned statically in the terrain.
Open the ground.jpg file and save as new file enemy_troops.bmp. Why .bmp for this file?
The jpg file format is appropiate to image files. This format generate files of small size. To indicate the position of the differents units we need to colour individual pixels and we need the bmp format for this purpose because the jpg format combine the colour of adjacents pixels when you save your image file to compress the image. bmp’s keeps the original colour of each pixel when you save the file beacuse is a format without compression.
Apache unit position
The first step is to specify the position of our Apache unit at the beginning of the mission. To do that draw a red square pattern like this where you want:
Note: The faster software we now to edit bmp files es Graphics Gale Editor (link)

(position of Apache unit)

(the pattern for Apache unit)
You can start the mission anywhere across the scenary but in this tutorial we won’t create a scroll route. By default, Covert Warfare scroll the scenario during the mission from down to up, like the old 2D arcades, so put your Apache unit near the bottom of the scenario in your enemy_unit.bmp file.
Enemy positions
Now you can put the enemy units. You can create up to 89 units. Let’s start with 10 (the limit for the free trial). These are the different patterns you can use:
Transportation unit (not armed):

Tank

Cannons Turret

Copter

Facilities

Main facilities
Patterns size: All the patterns used in Covert Warfare has a size of 5 x 5 pixels
Patterns colour: Use the red colour to draw the position patterns.
Copy and paste: Draw a pattern and copy - paste it to position all the units of the same kind.
In future versions of Covert Warfare we will add more patterns and more possibilities.
The orientation:
If you don’t specify the orientation of each unit they will appear looking to the right. To indicate a orientation draw a blue square like this near of each unit pattern:

Main objetives:
You can specify what objetives must be destroyed to accomplish the mission. To do that draw a red 5×5 square at the right of the enemy unit pattern. We only set one main objetive (the limit of free trial)
